Travel Back In Time With Excision & Wooli’s New Collaborative EP, ‘Evolution’ + Interview

||, |,

What do you get when you mix a mammoth with a dinosaur? How about some heavy hitting bass music. Excision and Wooli have teamed up to drop a four track EP that is sure to blow you back to the Cretaceous Period. Their new project is titled Evolution and has features from the likes of Seven Lions, Trivecta, Sam King, and more.

As you would expect, the bass in these tunes is no joke, but on tracks like “Oxygen” feat. Julianna Hope and “Another Me” feat. Dylan Matthew soft vocals are paired with a melodic beat to create the same feeling Excision did on the collaborative hit “Gold (Stupid Love)” with Illenium and Shallows. We had a chance to catch up with Wooli about the project with a short interview below so be sure to check that out as well.

Grab yourself a pair of nice speakers and take a listen below!

How did you link up with Excision and what made you guys decide to create a collaborative project?

Excision was someone who supported my music more than any other DJ. It was only natural to come together and write music together, however I originally only expected a single collab not an EP. It wasn’t until we finished the first record that we decided to keep going and finish some more ideas together we had laying around that we started previously.

What was your experience like working with Excision on this project?

Working with Jeff was a great experience for me personally. It was the first time in my career I worked next to someone in a studio. Typically all my collabs are via the internet. Also he has a great ear for what sounds good so it was an easy process to get ideas finished.

Is there a particular song on the project you enjoyed making the most?

Another Me with Seven Lions and Excision was my favorite song from the EP however it was the most difficult to finish. A lot of busy people coming together to write a song can be frustrating at times but the end product of the song made it all worth it.

Have you had a chance to test these out in a live setting? What has been the reaction?

I’ve been testing all the songs and by far the biggest reactions have been to Lockdown and Another Me. Lockdown just makes the crowd erupt and Another Me people are already singing the words. Its a great feeling!

What can fans look forward to next?

Personally I have a ton of music I still need to put out…more on the melodic side. Im always down to write more with Excision too!
