Scott Hansen, mastermind behind the creative electronic project, Tycho, has begun to show more and more of his vulnerable side with his audience, leading up to the release of his new album, Infinite Health. The songs he’s shared thus far draw emotions from powerful memories of everything from Scott’s childhood to his daily struggles. Though no words are actually spoken, the emotion is palpable through his detailed, masterful production. Tycho now shares his newest double-single from the album, “Devices / Green.”
“Devices” and “Green” are a blissful pair. The latter focuses on minimalistic elements, most prominently the guitar, to create a serene, intimate soundscape. Contrastingly, “Devices” embraces a high-energy, drum-forward groove, employing vibrant synth leads and euphoric melodies. The time and care taken to create Tycho’s tracks is evident, as Hansen leaves no stone left unturned in the production of his tracks.
Hansen shared the meaning behind each track, commenting:
“Green” and “Devices” represent the conceptual bookends of the forthcoming album, Infinite Health. “Green” is an elegy to my childhood where I spent my youth forging a deep connection with nature. “Devices” represents the struggle to stay connected to nature and our own humanity in the modern world. I wanted to illustrate this tension with a set of sonically contrasting songs.
