Vince Staples just dropped off what could end up being one of our favorite hip-hop albums of the year.
This project is short but sweet. It clocks in at just over 22 minutes, but it’s also produced entirely by Kenny Beats. The two found some amazing chemistry and the result is a brilliantly cohesive listen that flows flawlessly from front to back.
Not only does most of the album have a nice, laidback bounce to it throughout, but Vince delivers verses with his signature storytelling style. It’s nice to hear him flow over minimalistic hip-hop beats—a departure from his heavily produced previous projects, Big Fish Theory and FM! It feels like he has a bit more sonic space to work with, and Vince thrives in the spotlight.
