Daft Punk’s Memory Tapes documentary series has provided us with some really unique and insightful behind-the-scenes looks into the making of Random Access Memories. The latest episode features Pharrell Williams who gives his perspective on working with Thomas Bangalter and Guy-Manuel de Homem-Christo.

In the episode, Pharrell reveals that he initially thought he was laying down demo vocals to be re-recorded by someone else. Pharrell admits that he was inspired by Daft Punk’s profound attention to detail as they recorded the same bits over and over again.

It wasn’t until a full year later that he sat down with Daft Punk to hear the completed versions of “Get Lucky” and “Lose Yourself to Dance” for the first time. Watching someone as seasoned as Pharrell become completely taken aback by the recordings is goosebump-inducing.

Daft Punk recently announced that they would be releasing an entirely drumless version of Random Access Memories which is due out on November 17. Check out the episode below and enjoy!
