This weekend was a very special one for Mac Miller fans, who were finally able to receive Faces on Spotify. Due to various reasons (including sample clearances), the beloved 2014 mixtape was kept off of DSPs until this past Friday. Mac’s family decided to make the re-release extra special by including a bonus track from the Faces era along with various different short films.
The most powerful of the short films for us was a six and half minute mini-doc titled Making Faces. The video features previously unreleased footage of Mac Miller, as well as quotes from others who worked on the project, such as Josh Berg (lead engineer), and other friends and family. The video details the intense creative process that Mac subjected himself to, which helped him find himself through the music he was making.
Mac says that while creating this project, he would be locked in his studio (dubbed The Sanctuary) while awake for up to four days straight. When he finished, he didn’t want to leave.
Check out this awesome mini-doc, Making Faces, below. Enjoy!
