When it comes to iconic venues, NYC’s Webster Hall is surely near the top of the list. Having been around for over a century now, although we were all surprised back in 2017 to hear the Manhattan-centered locale would be temporarily closing, today the halls new owners have announced that renovations are complete and Jay-Z is set to re-open its doors this month!
After Webster Hall was sold for a cool $35 million to AEG Live and Brooklyn Sports & Entertainment two years ago, although hyped as we were surrounding Dog Blood’s announcement to help close out the venue, it was uncertain as to when the well-loved New York staple would return. But after extensive renovations and a promise to re-open in 2019, AEG/Bowery Presents have made good on their word with this latest announcement.
“In renovating one of New York’s most historic and iconic venues, our goals were simple and straightforward; maintain the integrity of the space, modernize it to create an incredible concert experience for fans and performers, and book a dynamic mix of artists in music today. Today’s announcement of JAY-Z to open Webster Hall, along with an eclectic line-up of artists throughout its opening month, achieves all of those goals positioning the venue to continue its success for decades to come.” – AEG Presents CEO Jay Marciano
While Jay-Z’s April 26 “B-Sides 2” show will be our first peek into the venue’s fresh new digs, as alluded to by Marciano, numerous incredible artists including Dillon Francis, TroyBoi, FKJ, Chromeo and more have already been confirmed on the Webster Hall website here.
