Do Skrillex and Kid Cudi have a new collab on the horizon? There are a few good reasons as to why we think there’s something new coming from these two greats. Without further ado, let’s get into it.
First and foremost, we’ve come across a registration for the song title “Ignite The Love” in the American Society of Composers, Authors, and Publishers (ASCAP) database. The writers credited on the track include both Sonny Moore (Skrillex) and Scott Mescudi (Kid Cudi), in addition to major hip-hop composer Rex Kudo, Skrillex collaborator Carlton McDowell, and GRAMMY-nominated producer Heavy Mellow.
Secondly, back in April of 2021, there was a leak of a track that was allegedly a collab between Skrillex and Kid Cudi. Cudi’s vocals were unmistakably his on the snippet, and the production certainly sounded Skrillex-inspired at the very least. Furthermore, the original upload of this leak in question was removed from SoundCloud, meaning someone out there did not want it circulating. Out of respect for both parties, we won’t link it. But, for those who are curious and willing to do a little sleuthing, it’s out there.
Lastly and most speculatively, in a recent interview with Esquire, Kid Cudi mentioned that his upcoming album, Entergalactic is his version of “R&B Cud.” The aforementioned leaked track most definitely fits that description. His album is set to drop in less than a month.
All of the above leads us to believe that there could be something involving these two superstars in the works. We’ll be the first to let you know if/when it comes. Just because something is registered in the ASCAP database doesn’t necessarily guarantee that it will actually be released.
With the news of Gorillaz and Tame Impala officially coming together, we can barely handle all of these mega-caliber collabs.
