William Orbit Breaks The Mold with Exploratory LP ‘The Painter’

|||

You might not immediately recognize the name William Orbit, but chances are you have heard his work at one point or another. With over 200 million recordings sold and a discography including production credits on Madonna‘s Ray Of Light among many others, William Orbit has had quite the musical journey up to this point. Upon recently taking up the craft of painting, the prolific producer has re-gained inspiration to release his first new album since 2010, entitled The Painter.

The Painter is a dynamic exploration of uncharted sonic territory following the producer’s long hiatus. With thirteen songs in total, each tells its own unique story through meticulous use of chordal voicing and melodic choices. The producer invites a total of nine dynamic collaborators to contribute their personal inspiration and experiences to the album, allowing the LP to read like a story from front to back. Standout track, “Gold Coast,” sees Orbit’s experimentation with warm analog synth patterns, coupled with his signature piano arrangements to give the track a modern spin.
