UK electronic maestro Floating Points is always finding ways to reinvigorate his sound and direction. Last year, he dipped his toes into more rave-fueled waters with tracks like “Problems,” “Grammar,” and “Vocoder.” Today, he’s tapping into some of his older, glitchy roots with his first official track of the year “Birth4000,” out now via Ninja Tune.
Floating Points still draws on that energetic, dance floor-inspired energy but infuses his own crunchy, gnarled out sound design along the way. The track’s pounding synth rhythm captures a unique rave essence as the track ebbs and flows over the course of nearly five gripping minutes.
UK dance aficionados will probably recognize the summer heater during sets from himself, Four Tet, Caribou, and Peggy Gou. Stream “Birth4000” below and enjoy!
