At long last, Bassnectar’s elusive Empathy VIP is finally seeing an official release. During last week’s audiovisual experience livestream, the bass music pioneer announced his first full length album in nearly four years, titled All Colors, with the first single being the fabled Bass Remedy Remix of the classic Bassnectar song, “Empathy.” After over six plus years of hearing this one in Bassnecar’s live sets, it’s surreal to think that in 2020 it’s finally available to stream and download. “Nice & Easy,” which was the heavy intro to the first installment of the new Lockdown Mixtape series, is also released alongside “Empathy.”
What makes this release that much more impactful is the fact that all proceeds from this first single of the album will be donated to charity in conjunction with dozens of visual artists who are offering up their art in support of pandemic relief efforts. Be Interactive, Bassnectar’s non profit has teamed up with Colorado’s Conscious Alliance to organize the #EmpathyArt gallery. This new remix is the soundtrack for the decentralized virtual #EmpathyArt gallery, which offers art fans the opportunity to support hunger relief or other mutual aid projects.
In times like these, it’s more important than ever to act with empathy and compassion in mind. We can all take note here when it comes to supporting each other through music and community.
Stream “Empathy (Bass Remedy Remix)” and Nice & Easy (feat. Rodney P) now on Bassnectar’s upcoming album, All Colors and look out for the rest of the project to drop on June 19. Enjoy!
