EarthGang Pay Homage To Erykah Badu On Soulful New Cut, “Erykah”

|||,

EarthGang always seems to be flush with dope new music. The Atlanta hip-hop duo has been making big waves this year announcing their new album, Ghetto Gods, and dropping a string of releases including the timely, “Aretha,” and the criminally smooth Snakehips collab, “Run It Up.” Today, the pair keeps momentum moving forward with a soulful new single titled, “Erykah,” and as you might have guessed, it is a masterful tribute to the one and only, Erykah Badu.

If the back beat behind this tune sounds at all familiar, that’s because it’s the very beat used on Badu’s famous track, “Window Seat.” Olu and Dot undoubtedly do the OG justice, providing their own lyrical spin without taking away from the innate soul of the production. Couple this with the intro monologue describing the impact of Erykah Badu and you have a near perfect salute to the queen of neo-soul.

As we inch closer to the release of EarthGang’s sophomore album, we’re loving the theme of tribute we’ve seen so far. Will there be other boundary breaking artists honored on the new project? Time will tell as the album is set to drop later this year. Until then, stream EarthGang’s new singe, “Erykah,” below. Enjoy!
