Fred again.. first met Brian Eno at the age of 16 as part of an acapella group who recorded at the legendary producer’s studio. Fast forward to today, Fred again.. has risen to the highest echelons of dance music and is still reeling from his last-minute Coachella headlining performance. For quite the full circle moment, Fred again.. and Brian Eno have just released a joint album together, Secret Life, out now via Four Tet’s Text Records.
Speaking with Apple Music to promote his album ForeverAndEverNoMore, Eno said that he learned so much about music from Fred again.. “I think of Fred as my mentor as well. I learnt so much about contemporary music from watching him working…It’s a two-way relationship. I’m very flattered to be called a mentor of someone whose work I like a lot, but actually, it worked both ways round.”
Secret Life melds together Brian Eno’s ambient leaning soundscapes with Fred again..’s ethereal vocal-forward melodies for yet another beautiful and unorthodox contribution to modern electronic music. Stream the project below and enjoy!
