French producer Stwo is no stranger to us at TSIS. While he may be best known for his behind-the-scenes production work for the likes of Frank Ocean and Roy Woods, his own artistic releases are equally impressive. After ending his 4-year hiatus with a triumphant return in January, he’s now following that up with a new single, “Prove.”
“Prove” shows us why Stwo is such an in-demand producer among R&B artists. Despite its slow, laidback beat, Stwo packs an emotional punch on this track. Although “Prove” is a strictly instrumental track, the washed-out synth work nonverbally conveys wistfulness, yearning, and desire. Punctuated with delicate inflections of guitar, the dreamy sound design of the track further underscores Stwo’s musical storytelling ability.
