2019 is shaping up to be a fantastic year for graves. Still riding the success of his impressive recent Far From Here EP and a massive collab with RL Grime, today we’re excited to have the pleasure of premiering two new tracks from the powerful Hawaiian producer – “Deadsong” & “Transmissions”.
“‘Deadsong’ is the heaviest thing I’ve written in a long time. I wanted to take it back to the early graves days, but with a fresh take. 93 and I have been working on stuff for a while now, and when I had the production almost there, he was really the only person I thought of for the vocal. It’s raw and its powerful. Punches you in the mouth pretty early on and doesn’t let up.” – graves
It’s always a good day when we get new music from graves. Considering the heavyweight bass-bringer has always had a knack for bridging the gap between bass and beauty, this latest offering only further exemplifies just how diverse of an artist he truly is.
“I wanted something cinematic and euphoric to balance out ‘Deadsong’. Maazel and I did Lost Boys together years ago, so this was another throwback for me. ‘Transmissions’ is decidedly brighter and uplifting but still has some weight to it.” – graves
Featuring a wealth of harsh, skittering synths, booming bass & abrasive vocals from LA-based artist 93FEETOFSMOKE on “Deadsong” – perfectly evened out by the gentle, warbling guitar and lush, atmospheric soundscapes of “Transmissions”, we’re definitely expecting both of these to make their way onto mainstages everywhere this summer. Check out graves’ new dual release of “Deadsong” & “Transmissions” below and enjoy!
