J.I.D. Joins Dreamville Labelmate Bas On Gritty New Collab “Fried Rice”

Dreamville is on straight fire. The J. Cole-led label boasts one of the best rosters in all of hip-hop including J.I.D., Earthgang, Bas, Ari Lennox, Cozz, Lute and Omen. With Earthgang’s Mirrorland and the collaborative effort Revenge Of The Dreamers III both on the way, the label has several of my most anticipated albums of the year coming up.

The Revenge Of The Dreamers sessions earlier this year brought together an all-star array of talent from around the hip-hop community in one of the most hyped studio sessions in recent history. We originally heard April as the tentative release, but just like anything in the rap world, it’s been delayed. Now, months later we get to hear what may have come out of those sessions in the form of a new Bas track “Fried Rice” featuring none other than J.I.D.

J.I.D. is undoubtedly my favorite on the Dreamville roster and released what we named the best hip-hop album of 2018 with his DiCaprio 2 project. The two linked up on the wild song boasting a hard-hitting beat produced by K Quick and engineered by TDE’s MixedByAli. The beat is menacing throughout with untraditional percussion and gritty, rolling 808s.

Bas kicks off the track with a strong verse showcasing his penmanship before J.I.D. comes in and lays down an insane verse. It seems anytime J.I.D. raps he could outrun a cheetah, all while focusing on his various morphing flows forever keeping us on our toes. Enjoy!
