With the popularity of lo-fi music, it can be hard to stand out in the crowded field. Swedish producer Max I Million has found his pocket though, with his signature blend of jazz and hip-hop samples. We loved his last album, and we’re stoked to offer an exclusive taste of his upcoming one. “On My Mind” is the lead single off his newest album Shine On…, out this summer via Coalmine Records.
The floaty opening notes of synth on “On My Mind” immediately establish a dream-like ambience. Max I Million layers in new instrumentals on each verse, including percussive textures, jazz drums, and a hip hop vocal chop. By the time the reverb-heavy strings drift along the top, it truly feels like he’s created an expansive, three-dimensional soundscape. Clocking in at just over two minutes, “On My Mind” leaves us craving more, warranting an instant replay.
