ODESZA’s Foreign Family Collective has become a highly respected label in the world of electronic music, featuring the likes of Rufus Du Sol, Jai Wolf, Louis Futon, Big Wild, and Chet Porter. The newest addition to the fam is LA-based producer, obli, and this newcomer’s music fits like a glove in ODESZA’s camp. His debut two track release, Recourse / Hold You, is a heavenly dreamboat ready to ferry listeners off into bliss.
The first track, “Recourse,” is built upon a euphoric back-and-forth between two dancing synths and utilizes an enchanting vocal loop to lay listeners deep down among the sound waves. The second track, “Hold You,” is a beautiful response to “Recourse,” starting with an ambient, atmospheric intro leading into a more energetic drum kit. The energy of the active drum kit is countered by the gentle simplicity of the synth line and vocal loop, creating an artful duality within the track.
