Seattle-based R&B phenom Parisalexa has been killing it lately. Having just come off an impressive 2019, closed out by her most recent track “2 Real“, today she’s started the year off strong with a fresh new single “Chocolate“.
This latest from the quickly-rising artist is all about self-love. Featuring a bouncing, hybrid beat reminiscent of something we’d expect from the late-great Aaliyah, Parisalexa masterfully blurs the lines between old/new school R&B sensibilities with this impressive release.
“I wrote this song based on how I feel when I look in the mirror. I love my blackness and all the richness of culture tied to my brown skin and it deserves to be sung about. It took a long time for me to be confident in all that I am, so this is a toast to all my sisters and brothers who have arrived at the same peak. No matter where we go in life, we came from the motherland.” – Parisalexa
Flaunting her soft, serene vocals for three-minutes straight, “Chocolate” has only upped the hype for her full forthcoming project 2 Real, set to drop in April. Stream / watch “Chocolate” below and make sure to catch Parisalexa on tour over the next few months (dates also below). Enjoy!
