Lido is on one in the back half of the year. The Norwegian producer just concluded the roll out of his new album, Peder, and he’s already back to work. This time he’s teamed up with Boston born artist, Johan Lenox, for an emotive remix of Lenox’s nostalgic hip-hop hit, “throwback thursday.”
When Lenox first created this track, he used classical elements in the production with to convey a sense of nostalgia while supporting the reflective verses of Kota The Friend and Lil Keed. Lido works hand in hand with those classical elements, reconstructing them with vibrant accents before adding his own impassioned vocal line. As the vocals of Lido and Lil Keed both progress, the classical themes demand the attention and care of listeners, ebbing and flowing between rich prominence and patient silence.
This level of understanding and respect for the power of vocals as part of a track is one of the many things that make Lido one our favorite producers. The way he builds lush soundscapes and conversely allows vocals to stand on their own two feet, shows a respect and understanding that sets him apart from so many others. Stream Lido’s new remix of Johan Lenox’s “throwback thursday” below. Enjoy!
