Thor Rixon has been pumping out gold ever since we first learned of him a few months back. The Berlin based artist has been shaking up the dance music scene with his blend of house, nu-disco, and indie-pop ever since he relocated there from his native Cape Town a few years ago. And now he’s back to continue that perpetual motion with his warm, groovy new single “Won’t Stop Crying,” which we’re very pleased to be premiering for you today.
Composed entirely using a combination of analog drum machines, samplers, and his own custom built modular synth, this break-up track is big on both groove and bounce. With lyrics that straddle the line between hindsight and foresight, it’s an exploration in letting your negative emotions go, via the power of music and dance. The accompanying video, which shows Rixon run the emotional gamut via someone else’s cell phone screen, adds greatly to the effect of the track, and is a perfect innovative match to the music.
