TSHA Shares Stunning Sophomore Album ‘Sad Girl’

“Sometimes the sad feels better than feeling good, and that’s okay. Sometimes we do want blue skies that fade away into clouds that are perfect gray. She thought a life of just happiness sounds pretty sad anyway. She was a sad girl. Lonely girl.” These are words heard on the title track for UK artist TSHA’s sophomore album, Sad Girl. The uber talented and rising producer has been turning heads since her debut album Capricorn Sun in 2022, and has been full steam ahead since then. Today via, Ninja Tune, TSHA puts her most impressive and vulnerable work to date out in this well rounded and stunning album.

Sadness and loneliness are difficult feelings to deal with, and TSHA faces them head on with this project. With a keen ability to express her feelings and emotions, TSHA has become one of the most moving artists in the scene. Becoming the cover artist of magazines like Mixmag and DJ Mag, getting her own BBC Essential Mix, and a residency at Ibiza’s DC-10 club, TSHA’s album comes while her star is the shining the brightest and there is so indication of slowing down.

A masterful blend of emotional and danceable tracks, Sad Girl is a true album. Previously released tracks like “Girls” with Rose Gray and “Sweet Devotion” with Caroline Byrne were true anthems meant for the dancefloor. While “Green” was our rather impressive first look at a track featuring her own vocals. Along with the album arrives, “In The Night,” featuring her vocals once again over a melancholic guitar melody with an four-to-the-floor beat that makes for a liberating and feel-good dance track.

TSHA brings on vocal assistance from Abi Flynn on “In Bloom”, which has an early 2000s girly pop sentiment, and Ingrid Watt on the unhurried and poignant “Azaleas” that mixes into the more clubby parts of the album nicely. “Take” brings the album back up to Ibiza club vibes while “Fight” is the techno infused closing track featuring an angelic string section that is the perfect sentiment to her ability as a multifaceted producer with a gift of evoking feelings in her fans, even the difficult ones.
