Bassnectar Announces Food Drive to Bring 30,000 Meals To Flint, Michigan

Bassnectar has been busy this year. On top of his performances and releases under the project, he’s been lending a hand to his community in a variety of ways. Just this summer he launched a new initiative to fund 2000 fans for one month of therapy under a new mental health program. He then announced a free new climate change course for high school teachers under his nonprofit. Now, his nonprofit, Be Interactive” has teamed up with Conscious Alliance to gibe back to Flint, Michigan in a big way.

Our goal is to collect 5000 meals at Freakstyle-double what we usually collect at a Bassnectar event,” said Justin Levy, Executive Director of Conscious Alliance. “We definitely can’t do this without a big effort from the community.

Years after the Flint Water Crisis, despite heroic activism and resilience in the city, lasting challenges remain. Bassnectar fans asked us to come together around the water crisis, and the opportunity is finally here.” says Lia Holland, Executive Director of Be Interactive. “Among their needs, this community lists food and water, and we are grateful to the inspiring kids and families of Flint for graciously welcoming our donation.

We’re asking Bassnectar fans to select special, extra healthy & fun foods for their donations, things that kids will be excited to eat,” Levy adds. “We hope everyone will bring something, and for those who bring a lot, we have the Freakstyle Lunchbox as a gift.

Ahead of Bassnectar’s Freestyle event, he’s announced a new effort to support hunger relief in Flint, Michigan. The two organizations aim to combine for 35,000 meals through a food drive over the 3-day Halloween shows in Michigan titled “Flint Brain Food Drive.”  They’ve also incentivized fans to participate by offering a limited-edition Bassnectar Freestyle 2019 lunchbox to anyone who donate 20 non-perishable items or meet a suggested cash donation amount.

Hats off to you Bassnectar!
