Major Lazer is back with yet another incredible tune! In anticipation for their final album set to drop this year, today the iconic trio has teamed up once again with Brazilian superstar Anitta on a fresh new single “Make It Hot”.
It’s been a conflicting year for Major Lazer fans. While the fanfare surrounding the groups final album seems to be growing each day, as founding member Jillionaire departed from the group earlier this month (only to be replaced by Ape Drums), this latest offering comes as a bittersweet reminder that the end of Major Lazer is nigh. But even so, in the spirit of Lazerism, we can only hope to groove-on with this fresh new single.
“We’ve been working with Anitta for years. She’s one of the biggest artists in Brazil, and a breakout star and someone unique like that is kind of the vibe for Major Lazer.” – Diplo via Zane Lowe
Packed with shrill, skittering synths, lush, atmospheric soundscapes and heavy, pulsing bass, Anitta adds the icing on the cake to this unmistakably danceable pop/reggaeton fusion. Coming as a followup to ML’s most recent release with Skip Marley, “Make It Hot” also marks the launch of BACARDÍ’s new “Pass the Beat” campaign (an extension of BACARDÍ’s now three-year partnership with Major Lazer).
“We did the song with them because last year we did ‘Jump’, a record with them. We actually invented a rum with them, a Major Lazer BACARDÍ Rum.” – Diplo via Zane Lowe
