Today, after years of waiting, Tycho fans will finally get to hear the first single off his new album, called “Easy”. This day comes after a year of full of Tycho remixes, re-releases, and a dash of original music with the song “Jetty”. Moments like the deluxe re-release of Tycho’s 2016 album Epoch helped fans wait with re-imagined takes on Tycho classics from Luttrell, Poolside, and more.
“Easy” is a taste of what we can expect from the new album, an organic, emotive take on Tycho’s signature sound. Last week Tycho took to twitter to explain the evolution of his music:
After a trilogy of records spent exploring the outer reaches of experience I am focusing inward to reveal a human side to the music… ‘Easy’ is about coming to terms with my past and defining a clear vision moving forward. It’s a comforting voice that reminds you not to get so lost in the work, but to take it easy and enjoy the ride. ‘Easy’ is the bridge to the future.
The human side of “Easy” comes through with beautiful, breathy vocals that alternate between longing calls and content humming. The vocals flit between skittering percussion and warm analogue bass lines, giving the track an undeniably dynamic feel. Stay tuned for the full project to come via Mom + Pop in the coming months.
Keep an eye out for more Tycho as he gets set to release his album this summer!
